PERSPECTIVE

It's all a matter of perspective, I suppose.  Earlier this week I took the Big Kids up to the Children's Museum and left Baby J with Ms. Jeffre.  This was a win-win all around: I was able to spend some quality time playing without baby interruptions; I practiced surviving seven hours without Baby J (the longest ever!); and Ms. Jeffre practiced spending a whole day with Baby J without the Big Kids to worry about (after all … I return to work in less than two weeks!)

And the day was just so … easy.  A few months ago, driving two preschoolers 90 minutes in the car one way to a Museum would have required much foresight, planning, and energy.  I probably would have stressed about leaving at the perfect time and packing the perfect snack.   Before leaving the house, I would have ran around collecting the last minute items … LeapPads, backpacks stuffed with a variety of books, blankets, hand sanitizer, water bottles, extra batteries, kids CDs.  But today, I told the kids to pack what they wanted in the car and off we went.  No stroller, diapers, wipes, bottles, baby.  Easy.  And fun.

But I missed Baby J terribly!
