We've been brainstorming ways to teach the kids to "give back" this Christmas season. We were thrilled when our neighbors invited us for a night of Christmas caroling and cookies at a local nursing home. There were about 15 kids total (JP was the oldest, Baby J was one of the youngest) who went from floor to floor singing joyfully. After each presentation, the kids walked up to each of the residents and greeted them with a handshake, smile, and a "Merry Christmas."
Witnessing the elderly residents light up to hear these kids - and watching the kids interact with the elderly definitely caused me to hold back tears. It was a beautiful sight. I hope this becomes one of our new Christmas traditions!
